Tridactylophagus sp. n. is described from female specimens parasitic in tridactylidean pigmy mole crickets Xya japonica (Haan, 1842) collected in Tango, Koyoto, Japan. It is the first record of Tridactylophagus from Japan. Morphologically the new species resembles T. coniferus (Yang, 1964) occurring in China, but easily distinguished from T. coniferus by its shape of cephalothorax, position of spiracles and other morphological characters.
